What happens to Sister Mary Cynthia on Call the Midwife?
In series five episode six you might recall a plot involving several women being attacked by an individual who left a bite mark on their neck. Well, Sister Mary Cynthia fell victim to that same attacker.

Bryony Hannah played the role of Sister Cynthia Miller from 2012-2017 and was one of three actresses, alongside Fennell and Kate Lamb, to leave the show at the time. Hannah reportedly departed to concentrate on other work and her theatre career.
Patsy then returned as a main character in Series Three, Episode Five in which she joins Nonnatus House and becomes roommates with Beatrix Franklin.
Delia make her first appearence in Season 4 as a girlfriend of Patsy. At this time she is a nurse at The London. Delia then moves in with Patsy, however a bicycle accident puts a stopper in these plans as her memory is lost and Delia must move to Wales with her family.
Miranda Hart will not be returning to her role as "Chummy" in BBC One's Call the Midwife, as was reported in April. The comedian and actress said it was "with a heavy heart" that she had to call off her comeback to the series.
Trixie's relationship with Reverend Tom Hereward
Tom was the Reverend of Poplar, London, and works closely alongside the nuns of Nonnatus House, and he ended up becoming a key character. He got close to Trixie throughout his time working in the area, and he proposes to her at the beginning of season four.
Fred then turns to look at her, he soon realises that Sister Evangelina has died.
For Sister Mary Cynthia, however, season six finished on a sadder note. She had returned to Poplar after spending some time in a mental institution, as she came to terms with the sexual abuse she'd endured.
Call the Midwife's Trixie Franklin left halfway through series 11, due to actress Helen George's pregnancy. But you can rest assured that she is returning for some big storylines in series 12, which is currently filming now.
CALL the Midwife star Ben Caplan is bowing out from the hit drama to pursue other experiences. The actor, 42, who plays PC Peter Noakes and is married to Miranda Hart's Camilla “Chummy” Fortescue-Cholmeley-Browne, suggested he'll now turn to theatre and look for edgier roles.

Alongside her role in Call the Midwife as nurse Patience Mount, which she in left 2017, she has stared in shows like New Tricks, Victoria and The Crown. Emerald left Call the Midwife in 2017 to focus on her writing work for season two of Killing Eve starring Jodie Comer.
Revealing her reason for leaving the show, she said: "They ask you to commit quite early on in the year to the show. "And I always wanted to do it, but I also felt that I'd done three different series for the last five years, and thought it might be good to slightly try and branch out and try something new."
Phyllis eventually helps Trudy, her son Mickey, and her baby daughter to escape from Lester, and they leave Poplar for a fresh start. Phyllis becomes the Cubs' new Akela after Patsy leaves to care for her dying father. She also realises the full extent of the relationship between Patsy and Delia.
Their fears are unfounded when Penny produces a healthy daughter but Patsy, having defied Sister Ursula, leaves for Hong Kong. Both Phyllis and Sister Monica Joan are aware of Patsy's relationship with Delia, whom they try to comfort.
Introduced in the second episode of Series Six, Valerie Dyer was a nurse with the Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps (QARANC). She resigned from the army after becoming weary of the routine of that type of nursing, describing it as "Plenty of curing. Not quite so much caring".
However, Chummy finally decides to follow her heart and, defying her mother, marries Peter in the first series finale. In Series Two, Chummy decides to pursue work as a missionary in Sierra Leone and Peter goes with her.
Camilla Noakes (née Cholomondely-Browne) otherwise known as Chummy, stands at 6ft 2 inches tall with size 11 feet, is the daughter of a prominent family who has found her way into nursing and midwifery by a circuitous route. Eternally good-humoured and monumentally kind, Chummy is crippled by lack of self-confidence.
Chummy gives birth to her son in Episode 8 of the series. However, Chummy's labor began to go wrong soon after it began, when the other midwives discovered blood all down the back of her nightdress. They soon learned Chummy had suffered a placental abruption, and two hemorrhages.
Helen and Jack are parents to five-year-old Wren Ivy and their eleven-month-old baby girl Lark. The couple started dating in 2016 after meeting on set in South Africa; Helen stars as Trixie Franklin, while Jack used to play Reverend Tom Hereward.
Call the Midwife star Stephen McGann is an integral part of the show, with Dr Patrick Turner appearing in every series of the show so far, and showing no signs of going anywhere.
Who does Reverend Tom marry in Call the Midwife?
He and Barbara get married in the last episode of Season Six with Barbara's father, himself a clergyman, conducting the service. In Season 7, Tom and Barbara head over to Birmingham to complete a six month mission as he fills in for a curate that had become ill.
Unfortunately, things did not turn out so well for two other characters. Dorothy Carnie (Stephanie Jacob), who worked serving tea to passengers on the train, was seriously hurt in the crash. She died soon after. Engineer Lionel Corbett (Marc Elliott) also died.

Barbara died in season seven
Speaking about her character's shocking exit at the time, she told RadioTimes.com: "I felt like Barbara had gone through such a lovely journey, having arrived at Nonnatus House a sort of wreck and quite incompetent, or at least on the surface."
Sadly, Gloria goes into premature labour and loses her baby. Before leaving the hospital, Gloria tells Shelagh "I've got this idea in my head that next year, or the year after, it'll be a lovely sunny day, and I'll be down Chrisp Street Market, pushing a pram.
Cynthia Bailey isn't planning a return to reality TV any time soon. The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum tells PEOPLE she's looking forward in her career — and, for now, that doesn't include a return to the Housewives franchise.
Cynthia does a reverse Sister Bernadette and leaves Nonnatus to become a nun, returning later in the season as Sister Mary Cynthia.
So, naturally, many fans were made understandably nervous by Trixie's sudden exit at the end of episode 5 of season 11. In the episode, Trixie received word that her godmother was ill and she would have to rush to her side to care for her, departing from Poplar with several episodes left to go before the finale.
Some of these performers have played these characters for so long, and we more than understand them having a breather here and there. So will we have a chance to see Nurse Crane in the finale? We weren't sure entering the finale, but we got our answer close to the end: She is back!

In the Christmas special, Sister Julienne explains to the midwives that, following the death of her grandmother in the season 9 finale, Valerie had resigned and transferred to the Hope Clinic mission in South Africa, which featured in the 2016 Christmas special.
Toward the end of Season 3, after caring for the dying mother of fellow nurse and midwife Camilla "Chummy" Stoakes (Miranda Hart), Jenny decides to change careers, and takes a position at the Marie Curie Hampstead Hospital.
Instead, the exit of Trixie is due in part to the actress' maternity leave, as she was pregnant at the time that season 11 was filming. You should certainly expect a lot more of her through the rest of this season, but we know that there is a season 12 coming and likely a Christmas Special before that.
